Bio


Kolin Din is a renowned architectural designer and visual artist with over 15 years of experience in the field. He was born in Siberia as Nikolai Diadechkin and later moved to Auckland, New Zealand, where he has been since 2018.

Kolin completed his undergraduate and Master's studies in architecture and urban design at Siberian Federal University. He started his career by working in A2 Group architectural company, where he later led an urban design department while teaching and practising at the university for nine years. During this period, he became an urbanism activist and tried to change local urban and social policy in Krasnoyarsk, a big post-Soviet industrial city in Siberia. However, due to the Russian state's attempts to curtail the development of democratic institutions and failed community policies, Kolin decided to emigrate.

Since 2018, Kolin has worked closely with matter, a renowned New Zealand architectural practice specialising in architecture, urban planning, art, design, and strategic thinking. Kolin has been involved in developing skills in preparing and delivering New Zealand documentation for resource consent in residential projects, proficiently working with New Zealand construction processes, standards, and building codes. He has shown high-concept design visualisation and mentored students and graduates to build a learning environment.

Kolin's work in New Zealand has won numerous awards, including the HOME of the Year, Auckland Architecture Awards, and New Zealand Architecture Awards. In 2023, Hyperbole House became a finalist in World Architecture Festival, the biggest architectural festival in the world.

Besides his professional work, Kolin is passionate about photography, especially minimalism and urban environments. He captures the beauty of New Zealand through his lens, and his New Zealand Houses project is one of his recognizable photo projects where he shoots New Zealand houses as they are on the date and collects them for history. Another of his artworks, By Pink Path was shown in NFT New York City show 2023.
